McQueeney VFD Represented in the San Antonio 110 9/11 Memorial Climb
Several McQueeney VFD volunteers took part in the 2021 San Antonio 110 9/11 Memorial Climb on September 11th at Hero’s Stadium. Chief Mike Wiedner and Assistant Chief Ray Salas made the climb while three other volunteers, Lauren Rodriguez, Megan Batey and Loghan Rodriguez provided support.
The climb honors the 343 NYFD firefighters that perished at ground zero attempting to rescue those trapped in the World Trade Center towers when they were destroyed by terrorists on 9/11/2001. 343 tags were carried by the climbers in honor of those fallen. An additional 79 tags were carried to honor the law enforcement officers and EMS personnel who also lost their lives at ground zero. The climb was changed this year from the Tower of the Americas to Hero’s Stadium.
