Volunteers from McQueeney Volunteer Fire Department as well as a team of puppeteers from Mexico visited McQueeney Elementary School on Friday (October 4th) to teach the children about fire safety. Through use of puppets and fun music the students were shown precautions to take to keep from being burned, and how to react and escape should they experience a fire in their homes. The volunteers also wore their bunker gear, wore masks and air tanks and encouraged the children not to be afraid of firefighters in emergency situations. Outside, the students were given a visual tour of a working fire truck and the fire-fighting gear that is found on board. The department sincerely appreciates the attention and respect shown to our volunteers during the presentations.
